Grace
in Grief is a powerful story — a ‘must’ for all who struggle
with deep grief, and for all who seek to support others. It is an
easy–to–read, frank, encompassing, helpful and heartfelt account
of Rosalie Follett´s grief journey, after the unexpected death of
her husband in March 2005.
Marcia Stillwell, Bereavement Co-ordinator, Adelaide
Hills Community Health Service.
Rosalie
bares her soul and documents her personal thoughts, fears and emotions
with refreshing honesty and a sincere empathy for all who grieve.
She places into the context of her personal experience the ‘tasks
of grief’, with all their raw emotions (Worden, Grief Counselling
and Grief Therapy, 1991). This is a story that needs to be
read slowly and reflectively, in order to absorb the impact of each
phase. She traces in detail her first year as a widow, and then
reflects on the second and third years. Grief´s Lessons
summarises all that she learns on the journey.
A
deep faith in God is an integral part of her life. She clearly articulates
her commitment and her struggles as she confronts the challenges.
“The
great strength of Grace in Grief is its extreme honesty
– the reader is given access to real humanity engaging real faith
through the many shocks, pains and unpredictabilities of the different
seasons of the grief journey. Rosalie gives us an unflinching insight
into the grief experience, and valuable resources for both those
who are grieving and those who seek to support them.”
